The first thing we saw arriving at our cabin in Jasper….a herd of elk foraging, across a very swollen Athabasca River. We had seen one black bear (along with a crowd of bear paparazzi) alongside the Icefield parkway on the drive up to Jasper, so it was nice to see this herd in the wild, without a crowd of cars around them.
